North Las Vegas recognizes local businesses, veterans and community programs

The North Las Vegas City Council and Redevelopment Agency spent part of its June 3 meeting honoring local businesses, veterans and community organizations.
Councilman Richard Churchill presented Dynamic Dental and Orthodontics as the June 2026 business of the month, noting its veteran ownership and in‑office CEREC same‑day crown technology. "With nearly 700 Google reviews and a 4.9 star rating, this community clearly has spoken," Churchill said. Lisa, the clinic’s office manager, accepted the certificate on behalf of the practice and thanked the council.
The council also recognized Walter Lascano for his leadership of the Veterans and Community Resource Center. Staff said Lascano has helped more than 2,500 people access veteran services; Lascano told the council, "For me, service does not end when we take off our uniform." Daniel Camano Jr. was honored for assisting nearly 1,300 veterans and supporting dependents and appeals work; staff estimated $4.3 million to $5.1 million in annual tax‑free benefits flowing back to the community from those efforts.
The Just 1 Project and the Dolores Huerta Resource Center received the Heart of Service Award from JustServe in recognition of partnerships and more than 11,000 visits in the center's first year. The council also recognized Romario Torres, a mariachi teacher at Johnston STEM Academy, as a core finalist for a 2027 music educator award in a program presented with the Recording Academy and the Grammy Museum.
The recognitions preceded the meeting's business agenda and were presented in the council chamber with certificates signed by the mayor and council members.
