County presents bond projects update including EMS station, judicial annex and roof/HVAC replacements

Henry County staff provided a progress update on bond-funded capital projects during the July 7 Board of Commissioners meeting, showing completed roof replacements, HVAC and technology upgrades, storage buildings, and work underway on the judicial annex and a planned EMS station in McDonough.
Capital projects staff said roofing projects for seven fire stations and other facilities are 100% complete, HVAC and controls work is finished for numerous county buildings, and fiber has been run to the judicial annex and aquatic center. Staff also showed images of the judicial annex renovation and described ongoing fleet upfitting and storage expansions.
The board approved a consent-agenda RFP award rescinding the prior award and awarding RFP 26-11 for construction of a new EMS station in McDonough to Cooper and Company (amount noted in the presentation as $3,882,000) to be funded with capital improvement bond funds. County attorney staff read routine consent items including an MOU with the Boys & Girls Club and right-of-way acquisitions for Bill Garner Parkway.
Commissioners asked whether the bond program's $30 million budget would be depleted; staff said contingency remains and that some funds will be used as projects complete. Commissioner Anglin and others thanked the capital projects team for fiscal oversight and urged public outreach about how tax dollars are spent. No additional procurement votes were taken beyond the consent approval recorded during the meeting.
