Demetria Harris, the Metropolitan Business League's small business and community engagement manager, reported to council that since joining the job she has focused on subcontractor outreach tied to the Life Casino project and that monthly sessions reach about 35 subcontractors.
"So we've been hosting about 35 subcontractors per month... Contractors are being awarded contracts," Harris said, adding that the League is working to remove barriers and to help local companies with SWAM certification, bidding and other capacities. Harris said the League is tracking awards and will disseminate opportunities to the community. Council offered no substantive objections; the update was informational.
