Board approves long-term substitute hire and salary guide movement for leave coverage

The Hardyston board approved personnel addendum items P9—P11, including the hiring of Teresa Zink as a long-term substitute to cover a Grade 7 math leave from Jan. 19 to Apr. 19.
Administration explained the district was unable to secure a full-time certified math teacher and will rely on a certificated teacher from another content area plus the experienced substitute Teresa Zink to co-teach and provide lesson continuity during the leave. The superintendent and staff described the arrangement as a short-term solution while the district continues to recruit.
The meeting also recorded an anticipated salary-guide movement for budgeting: BA to BA15 effective Sept. 1 and an anticipated move to MA effective Feb. 1, 2027; the change was added now for budgetary reasons and will be processed with proper credentials when effected. The motions to adopt P9—P11 carried on roll call.
