Brian Drehlich was elected president of the Hardyston Township Board of Education at the board's Jan. 6 reorganization meeting, and Edward (Ed) Riley was chosen as vice president.
After nominations, the board conducted a roll-call vote that produced a majority in favor of Drehlich for president and Riley for vice president. Newly elected President Brian Drehlich thanked colleagues and emphasized the board's focus on students and staff, saying, "I very much look forward to that," as he outlined priorities for the coming year.
The newly seated president said he will email members soliciting interest in three named delegate roles and other committee assignments; the board plans to adopt committee appointments at a meeting in two weeks. The board also reaffirmed recurring governance practices and upcoming meeting dates to orient new and returning members.
The election concluded the reorganization portion of the meeting and the board then opened the regular session. No substantive public comment was offered during the reorganization step.
