Costa Elementary highlights PBIS, arts residency and new electives

A Costa Elementary staff member updated the Lammersville Joint Unified School District board on Sept. 4 about site programs and family engagement as the school begins its second year.
The presenter described PBIS expectations framed under "Leopards RISE" (respect, integrity, safety, empathy), continued social-emotional learning with a restorative-practices specialist used for mediating student conversations and small groups, and an artist residency through the San Joaquin County Office of Education in which an artist spends four weeks with a class. She also noted PLTW gateway electives that feed into high school pathways, newly added fine-arts electives (drama and art), an expanding ASB and a HOSA team this year. The presenter said the school hosted a new back-to-school bash and parent-focused "Costa Coffee Breaks" to build community.
The board thanked the presenter for the update. No action was required; this was an informational presentation about school programs and engagement.
