Parks staff installs additional padlocks after pickleball court complaints

Parks staff briefed the board on public comments concerning pickleball court rules and access at Lakewood and Raymond community parks and described the courts as open-space amenities with posted rules but no staffed regulation.
To manage heavy daily use and reduce conflicts, staff said they added two padlocks at Raymond, bringing the total to four padlocks for eight courts. "One person who had made a comment did get back with us and say, you know what? By adding that additional set, this has alleviated some issues," a resident reported during the meeting. Staff said the padlock and 'Patter Rack' system is intended to guide use and avoid involving police for court disputes.
