Gilford board responds to pickleball complaints, sets temporary hours and orders signage

Town Administrator Scott Dunn said the courts are being used by roughly 50 people daily and that the Town has begun receiving complaints, including a specific noise complaint from a resident at 8 Wildwood Road. "Several people have concluded the lighting is not adequate," Dunn said, and the lighting vendor has set fixtures to maximum output. The Town has received requests for screening and dividers but noted no funds are currently available to purchase them.
The Board directed the Parks and Recreation Director to obtain quotes for lighting, screening and dividers for inclusion in the 2027 budget. The Board approved signage prohibiting bicycles, skateboards and rollerblading on the courts and set lighting hours of 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. by motion of Selectman Grenier; the motion passed 3-0. A public hearing will be scheduled to formally change hours of use.
