The Midwest City Council approved a professional services contract with ADG Blatt for design services tied to a new indoor recreation and aquatics facility, in an amount not to exceed $2,700,000.
City staff presented the procurement process and noted ADG Blatt’s experience in aquatic facility design; the council heard that Willowbrook Construction has been engaged for preconstruction services and that city, contractor and school-district representatives have reviewed the proposal. "This council engaged a contract with Willowbrook Construction to be the project, to construct the project and provide preconstruction services," a staff presenter said.
Staff indicated the facility will include both a leisure pool and a competition pool and that separate operating agreements will be negotiated with the YMCA and Mid-Del Schools for competition pool use. The council emphasized cost segregation and asked for contract details; staff said certain mechanical systems and utility costs for the competition pool will be segregated and covered by operating partners.
Council voted to approve the contract; staff said the team will proceed with design and preconstruction coordination.
Next steps: Detailed design and agreement negotiations with YMCA and Mid-Del Schools; construction procurement will follow design completion.
