District’s secondary assessment review shows gains; superintendent flags funding disparity

District Data Coordinator Michael Beattie, with High School Principal Melissa Wachowski and Middle School Principal Monica Turner, presented the Secondary Assessment Data review, reporting spring 2025 M‑STEP, PSAT and SAT outcomes. The minutes state Holly students outperformed Genesee County averages in nearly all tested areas and that 11th graders exceeded Michigan state averages in Math, ELA and Science.
Superintendent Roper commended the secondary team and cautioned that the district faces a funding disadvantage because six of the ten Oakland County districts receive additional dollars above the per‑pupil amount. The presentation included initiatives for 2025–26—strengthening advisory at the high school, middle school engagement and attendance goal setting, and parent engagement strategies—to sustain the academic momentum.
