Overland Park details transit services: airport express, county circulators and welcome hubs

Jack Messer told the council Overland Park has worked with Johnson County Transit and KC2026 to land multiple transit services for visitors and residents, including a free airport drop-and-ride and county circulator routes that will connect sites across Johnson County. "This service will be free starting in May and going through the end of the year," Messer said of the airport express.
Messer described three circulator routes (express, a route running through Mission/Overland Park and another running through Shawnee/Lenexa/Olathe) and said there are six stops in Overland Park (Downtown Overland Park, Overland Park Convention Center, Prairie Fire, Shields/Corbin Park area, Shields Soccer Complex and Deanna Rose/Pharmacy area). Oak Park Mall was identified as a major hub with park-and-ride and parking capacity. Messer said headways were expected to be roughly 25'35 minutes and services planned for about 18 hours a day on heavy match-day schedules. Staff also described welcome-hub plans at the convention center and Oak Park Mall for information, cooling areas and rideshare queuing.
