Council discussion was brief. Councilmember McMahan praised the city for focusing on "good streets and clean water" and said the bid prices were compact compared with years when bids vary widely. A motion to award the bid (moved and seconded on the record) passed by voice vote.
Beets said the annual program mills and overlays several streets and that the city clerk opened bids from five contractors. No residents spoke on the item. The contract is intended to move forward this construction season; staff will schedule preconstruction meetings and coordinate timing with other projects.
