Council fills planning, parks and RDC seats; James Sheffer appointed to Planning Commission
Summary
Council appointed James Sheffer to the Planning Commission and approved appointments and reappointments across the Parks Board, RDC and several standing committees, filling required seats and adjusting ex officio assignments where needed.
Council reviewed several citizen applications and approved multiple appointments to boards, committees and commissions. James Sheffer was appointed to the Planning Commission to fill a vacant voting seat after the mayor said Sheffer was present and willing to serve.
Council also approved appointments to the Parks Board (including Laurie Cook, Joe Becerra, Renee LeLaren, Crystal Pritchett and additional new applicants), reappointed two RDC members and assigned council representation to various standing committees (employee benefits, finance audit, image committee). The mayor ran through each slate, council moved and approved by voice vote for the listed candidates.
The council discussed term synchronization for some boards and noted charter restrictions on council members serving on certain commissions. Several informal preferences were recorded for whether RDC should include two or three council members; ultimately council reappointed Ted and George and filled citizen seats as needed.
