Red Cross to conduct weather-hazard home visits and distribute weather radios in Rosenberg

Jacob Balderas of the American Red Cross (Houston office) told the council the organization is expanding a Coastal Plains climate-hazards program in Fort Bend County, and that the Rosenberg distribution is part of a broader regional effort covering 51 counties.
"Our entire region covers 51 counties all the way from Nacogdoches down to Brownsville," Balderas said, introducing Avalon Sykes of the Coastal Plains chapter. Sykes described the Saturday effort as weather-hazard home visits that include preparedness conversations, distribution of a weather radio and temperature gauges, and partnership with Rosenberg firefighters.
Sykes asked for volunteers to help with door-to-door visits; the Red Cross said the event will meet at Fire Station 1 at about 8:30 a.m. and run until about noon while supplies last. The council thanked Red Cross staff and indicated support for outreach and emergency-preparedness efforts.
