Cities report parks, roadwork and grant progress during consortium meeting

Several municipal representatives gave short status reports. Rockwall County noted that the ICA with the City of Fate for South Bend Paine Road was approved by Fate's council on June 15; a Fate representative also reported a recent bond sale to fund a downtown park, describing the project as about $6,500,000. McClendon Chisholm's mayor said Edwards Road construction and sidewalk work are nearly complete and sidewalk pour and striping remain; Heath's representative said Town Center Park will be ready for July 4 and that public safety and public works facilities are under construction.
Smaller places described grant-funded pavement work: a mayor reported receiving a TDA grant administered through HUD to repair about 2,000 feet of pavement at a value of a little under $1,000,000. Officials across jurisdictions said they are coordinating with TxDOT and county staff on access and traffic-signal work near new development and retail openings; residents and commissioners voiced concern about businesses affected by access changes on FM 548 and I‑30 corridors.
