PBSA to turf infields at Raymond; parks operations report seasonal maintenance work

Operations staff updated the board on seasonal maintenance and an upcoming PBSA project to turf infields at Raymond Community Park. The operations manager said crews have focused on erosion control, seed and temporary sod to limit road runoff and that staff are watering several sites with a water trailer.
Park operations manager Matt Furr told the board that PBSA will begin turfing the skinned infield areas on June 3–5 using in‑house funds, which staff expect will reduce rainouts and allow more games and practices. "They're going to turf the infield... so we'll have grass on that field but all the way from dugout to dugout and all the skinned areas, that'll be turf," Furr said, adding the change should increase playable hours. Staff also noted crew shortages and equipment maintenance needs but said they expect to finalize field allocations with league partners at next week’s planning meeting.
Board members asked about irrigation adjustments and scheduling; staff agreed to coordinate field allocations and to return updates at the June meeting.
