Commission approves revised Costco fuel-site plans after engineering review of driveway relocation

The Planning Commission unanimously approved a revised preliminary development plan and a final development plan for a Costco fuel station, allowing the Metcalf Avenue entrance to shift 24 feet south to reduce relocation of a 24-inch water main and box culvert work.
Staff said the relocation lowers construction and utility-relocation costs. Engineering staff reviewed a queuing plan and reported sufficient stacking capacity: the fueling layout can handle 32 fueling positions with stacking for about 30 cars behind pumps. "Their traffic study did indicate that they do have sufficient stacking here," an engineering representative said.
Larry Durczyk, a Costco real-estate consultant, told the commission the company had worked with staff and engineering on the revised plan and confirmed agreement with stipulations A–Q for the preliminary plan and A–P for the final plan. Commissioners said the revised entrance and increased stacking should reduce conflicts between parking and fueling traffic and voted 9–0 to approve both the revised PDP and the final development plan.
