Planning Commission hears CIP proposal totaling $361.3 million; approves conformity recommendation

Kyle Derringer, Overland Park’s budget manager, presented the city manager’s proposed 2027–2031 Capital Improvements Program at the April 13 Planning Commission hearing, describing it as a five-year plan for infrastructure, facilities and large equipment purchases totaling $361,300,000.
Derringer noted the CIP had already been reviewed by the Committee of the Whole and goal-area committees, and that this was the second public hearing before the commission; he said the plan will return to the commission after public hearings to determine conformity with the comprehensive plan. Commissioner Strauss moved approval of the planning finding for PLM 2026-63 (CIP 2027–2031), and the motion passed 9–0.
Derringer said the CIP process included earlier public hearings and that the city council will hold further hearings later in the month; no members of the public spoke at the commission hearing.
