Committee aligns district capitalization threshold with state rule (now $10,000)

Ms. Mikas told the committee that the state has changed the capitalization threshold for fixed assets, and the district is proposing to align its policy to avoid material differences in audited financial statements. "Prior to July 1, the law was 5,000 and above. The state changed that to 10,000 and above," she said.
Staff said most district property already exceeds the $10,000 threshold and they do not expect the change to materially affect financial statements. The committee asked no further questions and approved the policy change by voice vote; the item will go to the full board in August for final approval.
