Councilmember Charlie Shutt asked that the minutes note that Susan Weeks of Vernon & Weeks served as Mayor Wanda Irish's personal attorney in 2017; the mayor disputed the accuracy and suggested resolving the matter in executive session.
Councilmember Joe Cornell said he had approached the mayor and that she clarified she was not her attorney, adding he would have voted differently if he had known the facts earlier. Councilmember Josephine Prophet noted that posting a Request for Proposal for an attorney is not legally required and that the matter had already been reported in the Gazette Record and the CDA Press. Josephine Prophet moved to approve the consent calendar with the changes to the minutes; the motion passed with unanimous recorded AYES.
