Seward County accepts FIG grant funds to extend EHR contract and buy fit-testing maintenance

The commission accepted FIG grant funds and reallocated $75,235.22 as presented by the health department director. Of that total, $49,190 was allocated to extend the county's Nightingale Notes (EHR) contract two years through Aug. 31, 2030; $6,194.48 was allocated for a five-year maintenance and calibration contract for the portacount machine and particle generator used for fit testing; the remainder was designated for travel, training and competency equipment.
"We have $75,235.22. Of that, 49,190 would be allocated towards a 2 year contract to extend our EHR contract ... and $6,194.48 of that would be allotted towards our port account machine and particle generator maintenance," the health director said. Commissioners approved accepting the funds, authorized the health director to sign contracts with Nightingale Notes (or CHAMP software) and TSI, and approved using FIG funds to reimburse the county for up-front payments. The motions passed unanimously on the record.
The director noted the EHR system moved the department fully electronic when it was adopted and said the FIG funds will save the county an estimated $25,000 to $30,000 per year. The health department also requested preapproval to apply for WIC, NSA and BFPC funding for fiscal year 2027; commissioners authorized applying and allowed the commission chair to sign any required signature pages.
