Seward County adopts county standards for entrance construction

County planning consultant Steve Linehan presented the revised Seward County Standards for Entrance Construction and said the document clarifies responsibility for construction and maintenance of field and subdivision entrances. "The entrance policy goes further in explaining to everyone... who's responsible for constructing and maintaining those entrances," Linehan told the board.
Commissioners asked whether a removed field entrance must be brought back to code or if a farmer can replace it informally; Road & Bridge staff said existing entrances still have language in the policy addressing maintenance and that property owners must reapply for a permit if an entrance needs to be reapproved to facilitate drainage. The commission voted to approve the policy and will assign a formal resolution number or return the document in the resolution format at a later meeting. The motion passed unanimously on the record.
