The Prosper Town Council unanimously approved a resolution June 23 declaring the necessity to acquire certain properties and easements for the 1st Street Coleman-to-Craig project and authorized staff to proceed with negotiations, appoint an appraiser and negotiator, and pursue condemnation if purchases cannot be reached. Alexis Turner, the project manager and CIP engineer, told council that design work identified approximately 20 parcels that will require right-of-way or easement acquisition.
Council also authorized the town manager to execute a professional services agreement with PAS Property Acquisition Services LLC to assist with the acquisitions. Staff referenced an amount of $215,000 for the PAS contract in the staff presentation; during the motion record an alternate figure was stated on the dais. The council approved the contract authorization unanimously. Turner emphasized that the condemnation authority is requested to keep the project on schedule if negotiations are unsuccessful.
