Box Elder County approved a one-year renewal (with a one-year option) of a lease allowing Autonomous Solutions Incorporated to use the east parking lot of the county fairgrounds as a test site for autonomous yard trucks.
Joshua Williams, director of verification and validation at Autonomous Solutions, told commissioners the company has used the lot for five years and said the presence has brought local business to county vendors and reduced transient-security problems at the site. "We do bring money into the county," Williams said. He said the company vacates the site each August for the fair and offered equipment to help fairground safety during events.
Commissioners discussed insurance and indemnity provisions and confirmed that the lease language includes insurance requirements. Commissioner Perry moved to approve parking lot lease agreement 26-08 with Autonomous Solutions Incorporated; Commissioner Bingham seconded and the motion passed by voice vote. The county will direct staff to finalize the written agreement as presented to the commission.
