New Mexico agencies used a Strategy Center template to inventory direct care workforce data

A three‑agency team from New Mexico described how they used a Strategy Center template and convening support to inventory existing data across agencies and programs. Antoinette Vigil, deputy cabinet secretary at the New Mexico Aging and Long Term Services Department, said the inventory helped the agencies ‘‘define what made up this workforce’’ and identify what data each partner already collected.
"Our ultimate end goal was for us to access and utilize reliable data to inform and determine our strategy," Vigil said. Panelists said the inventory process revealed overlapping responsibilities, different reporting time frames, and places where program rules or reporting do not capture the direct care workforce consistently. They emphasized cross‑agency meetings and regular workgroup reviews as central to breaking down silos and aligning future work.
The panel described the inventory as a practical first step: agencies completed templates with program descriptions, frequency of reporting, data elements captured and where data are reported, then reviewed them collectively to create a consolidated view for leadership and planning.
