Board hears how standards-based checks will affect athletic eligibility

"So when the learning check comes out, that is our eligibility time period. Students who are not meeting that 2.0 or above, they are deemed ineligible," a staff representative explained. The staff speaker said students have a one-week grace period to work with teachers, and that athletic staff and the athletics director may exercise discretion for students demonstrating academic progress.
Board members asked for clarity on reassessment deadlines and how repeated NE (no-evidence) entries are averaged; staff described reassessment guidance and said teachers communicate deadlines. The presentation emphasized that the standards-based system still allows pathways for student athletes to regain eligibility through documented academic progress.
