FIPAC says cuts were carefully chosen; Town Charter limits reconvened meeting to reductions

Judith A. Jordan, chair of the Financial Planning & Allocation Commission (FIPAC), told attendees the commission faced a "very challenging process" when revising the proposed 2026–27 budget and took a close look at where acceptable cuts could be made to respond to the May 21 referendum results.
Jordan also reminded the meeting that Town Charter Section 9 limits what the reconvened meeting can do: the budget may be reduced or remain the same, but it cannot be increased at this stage. FIPAC member Kelley Peck said the commission aimed to present a reduction that signaled residents' concerns had been heard and that could reasonably pass at the next referendum.
