The commission approved an increased offer of $25,000 for 308 North Main after the property owner requested an additional $5,000 above the prior $20,000 offer. A committee member (speaker 1) moved to increase the offer to $25,000, the motion was seconded and passed on a voice vote.
Members said resolving the long-running matter would avoid lengthier condemnation and court processes the city has previously contemplated. Staff (speaker 6) said they will contact counsel and the owner’s representative (Barb) to communicate the commission-approved offer and proceed with negotiations or next steps.
If the owner does not accept the revised offer, commissioners acknowledged the city has ongoing condemnation proceedings but expressed hope the negotiated sale will avoid that path.
