After a public hearing at the May 19 meeting, the Clarksville Town Council approved Ordinance 2026 BUD 02 to authorize additional appropriations for fiscal year 2026. Town Manager Beatty explained the statute-driven requirement to adopt an additional appropriation ordinance when expenditures exceed amounts in the annual budget and said the requests address operational, capital and court-related expenses. “Indiana law requires that we, adopt an additional appropriation ordinance when expenditures are needed in excess of the amounts originally appropriated in the annual fiscal budget,” Beatty said.
The ordinance covers three specific requests: funds from the CCI fund for replacement of a motor-fuel system; ARP funds for rehabilitation of Fire Station No. 3; and supplemental adult probation funds for court expenses. Council moved and seconded the ordinance and carried the roll-call vote; the transcript records a 7–0 approval on the reading presented. The council indicated it would take the second reading/vote as required by procedure and completed the action in the meeting record.
