The Clarksville Town Council recognized two long-standing local institutions at its May 19 meeting, presenting Cornerstone Awards to Chapman Funeral Home and the Clarksville Little Theatre. Councilmember Henderson introduced Todd Watts as owner of Chapman Funeral Home and praised the facility’s recent improvements. “Please join me, in recognizing Todd Watts and Chapman Funeral Home for 1 of the 1st recipients of the Cornerstone Award,” the councilmember said.
The council also named Clarksville Little Theatre a 2026 Cornerstone Award recipient, noting the theater’s community-built history and continuous productions since 1947. A presenter representing the Historic Preservation Commission explained that the award “honors locally owned businesses and organizations that have operated in the town of Clarksville for 50 years or more,” and congratulated current theatre president Jason Lindsey. The recognitions were ceremonial; no formal council action beyond acknowledgment was recorded.
