City public works staff presented the annual street striping project and recommended awarding the contract to Specialized Pavement Markings Inc., the single responsive bidder, at $84,375 (engineer estimate $87,596). Councilor Hutchison moved approval and the council approved the intent to award by unanimous voice vote.
Casey Keiser said crews typically perform striping at night to avoid traffic: "We ask them to do it at night. That's easier. They don't have as much traffic to contend with." If awarded, Keiser said the work would start Aug. 20 and finish by Sept. 3.
