District Director of Maintenance and Operations Travis Dixon told the board July 16 that summer cleaning and maintenance projects are underway and should be completed before the start of classes. Book orders are arriving and being delivered to sites; TK furniture is expected by the end of the month and will be installed prior to the start of school.
Dixon noted a few ongoing operational issues: the pool chlorine pump leak was repaired, some athletic fields are showing heat stress and are being watered daily (with some manual spot watering), several HVAC issues remain to be fixed before staff return, and two high-school custodial positions are open. He said the district expects to complete the work in time for the scheduled first instructional day on Aug. 5.
