Several administrative and procurement items were on the court’s agenda and were approved by voice vote.
District Attorney Tom asked the court to convert salary savings from unfilled positions into a civil paralegal role to support the civil division during an upcoming maternity leave and to create a second victim assistance coordinator because one coordinator currently handles about 1,200 quarterly victim contacts. "We would like to utilize some of our saved funds to hire a civil paralegal... and the additional funds we'd like to use to create a 2nd victim assistance coordinator," Tom said. Commissioners approved the staffing requests and noted the salary order would follow at the next session.
Staff also requested a dedicated GIS technician to support the county’s Tyler enterprise project and data needs for dispatch and public safety; the court approved adding that position under county IT/GIS oversight. The court approved an amendment to engineering services for additional survey and drainage coordination at the Clay At Pitts intersection and extended a drainage-review contract with Payton Dawson (funded from developer application fees). Procurement approved a multifunction printer for use by judges and clerk in the third-floor courtroom.
These approvals are administrative and budget-neutral in the session’s context (several items used existing or grant-allocated funds); follow-up steps include formal salary orders and contract documentation at subsequent meetings or in county procurement records.
