Tax assessor reports $630,000 June collections; county retains $69,000 of motor vehicle receipts

Tax Assessor-Collector Karen Newton presented the June collection report to the court, providing both overall and motor-vehicle-specific figures.
"For Waller County, we collected 630,000 combined for the 10 jurisdictions that we collect for," Newton said, and she added that motor-vehicle transactions produced $472,000 in total collections for June. Of the motor-vehicle total, Newton said $403,000 went to the state and $69,000 was retained by the county.
Commissioners asked no follow-up questions during the presentation and thanked Newton for the report. The information was received for the record; no action beyond receipt was taken.
