Board members described quarterly purchases of clothing and shoes for children and imminent school-supply purchases. They explained the Christmas approach—caseworkers provide wish lists and the board purchases and distributes gifts rather than holding a central party because many children are placed outside the county. The Hempstead Scrappers quilting guild is making personalized quilts for each child so items can travel with them.
Commissioners and board officers discussed safeguards for charity-account spending and emphasized that donated funds are separate from taxpayer allocations. No additional funding actions were requested at the meeting; the board thanked the court for its ongoing support.
