The presentation emphasized that most of the pressure on Sunnyvale rates comes from outside suppliers: Mikaela said the district’s multi‑year proposals include double‑digit jumps in some years and that the town’s options are limited by those pass‑through costs. Council members asked for a resident‑level estimate of household impact; Mikaela said the per‑household monthly increase would be between $7 and $10 and offered to return with a precise figure.
Council did not adopt a final ordinance at this meeting; staff said the recommended Jan. 1, 2027 effective date and associated budget requests will be brought forward for formal action in subsequent meetings.
