Council considered several appointments for boards and advisory committees. After motions and amendments, council appointed Greg Holzapel, Shamir Baloch and Dr. Matthew Verimon to the Planning & Zoning Commission and appointed Matthew A.J. Honore and Alex Chen to the Stafford Economic Development Corporation. Council also moved to keep several standing advisory-committee rosters in place and specifically appointed Mayor Matthew, Mayor Pro Tem Tim Wood and Virginia Rosas to the Compensation/Personnel/Policy/Benefits committee.
A separate request to change leadership for the Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month committee was discussed but ultimately tabled so the full committee and mayor can coordinate next steps. Council recorded the motions and amendments on the record and concluded the appointment votes with no recorded opposition on the final motion kept on the floor.
Why it matters: appointments determine local oversight for planning, economic development and advisory functions; the tabling of AAPI leadership preserves a path for discussion rather than an immediate change in committee leadership.
