Stafford announces expanded Fourth of July schedule; fireworks, concert and family events planned

Susan Ricks (identified as director in the meeting) said the city will hold a festival on July 3 starting at 6:30 p.m. with nonprofit booths, a children’s moonwalk, and city-provided wagon rides, and a Freedom Rings concert and a Fort Bend Symphony performance on July 4 from 7–9 p.m., followed by a larger fireworks show at 9:15 p.m. "We will have the festival...the 323rd army band will perform," Ricks said, and noted the city had confirmed entertainment and would post details on the city's website. Staff asked community members to volunteer; Ricks provided an email contact (sricks@tx.gov) for sign-ups.
Council thanked staff for the update; a councilmember asked about event staffing and police coverage during FIFA weekend conflicts and staff indicated the chief assured adequate coverage. No formal vote or budget action occurred at the meeting.
