A commissioner read the proclamation noting that "drowning is a tragic accident that takes the lives of over 4,000 Americans annually" and that "Navarre Beach has lost 6 people from drowning since 2010," and recognized the Rotary Club's installations and volunteer work during National Drowning Prevention Week. A club representative thanked the county for partnership and said the club has raised more than $600,000 for youth since its 1995 charter.
Commissioners invited club members for a group photo and publicly thanked lifeguards and volunteers for their ongoing work in keeping beachgoers safe.
