The Rosenberg City Council reviewed the structure, attendance and staffing burden of its boards and committees and directed staff to adjust meeting schedules and begin recruiting for open seats.
Danielle (speaker 11), a city staff member, presented meeting counts, cancellation rates and average attendance across advisory boards. For the Image Committee she offered three options: move meetings to quarterly, combine Image with Parks, or dissolve Image and transfer the awards program to council. For Parks, Danielle said frequent cancellations and limited parkland funding argued for fewer meetings.
The parks director (speaker 12) recommended quarterly meetings, saying limited funding means the board often spends minutes on updates and then adjourns. Councilors agreed to try quarterly Parks Board meetings for now and to leave the Image Committee intact while staff pursues better engagement and recruitment. Staff will post applications online and on social media and is preparing a slate of appointments for the July 21 agenda for committees whose terms are up.
