Vacaville names IT director, promotes public-works assistant director

City Manager Shodri Chaudhry announced the creation of a new municipal Information Technology Department and introduced Gurinder Banes as the city's new IT director. In remarks to the council, Chaudhry said Banes brings more than 20 years of public-sector technology leadership, including time as deputy CIO for the City of Oakland.
Chaudhry also announced the promotion of Daniel Sutton from engineering manager to assistant director of public works for the maintenance groups, describing Sutton as a long-standing city employee with institutional knowledge appropriate for the role. Council welcomed both staff members and thanked outgoing and existing staff for their work.
