Emergency management reports ongoing FEMA assessments, temporary housing and SHSP grant denial

The county's emergency-management representative reported recent activity on disaster recovery and grant status, including damage assessments with federal partners and access to temporary housing.
He said Trumbull County provided five FEMA temporary-housing trailers the county can deploy if needed and described multiple damage-assessment rounds with FEMA and the Small Business Administration. "We were we were denied for that," he said of the 2026 SHSP grant, and added the county has not yet heard whether the 2025 SHSP application will be approved.
The speaker cautioned residents that state disaster-relief processes can take time and explained the county does not receive special advance notice of state or federal decisions: "We don't get a secret call from the governor's office or we don't have any insider information on when they're gonna do that," he said. He also described a long-running appeal of unresolved county road damage from a 2005 flood and said staff will continue to press those cases.
