Jon Green, Highway Department Office Manager, told the commissioners that crews are preparing roads for chip sealing and patching potholes and that the Sugan Hollow Bridge project remains on track for a September completion date, weather permitting. Green said routine mowing operations have been suspended because of budget cuts and that the department will review the budget next month to determine whether mowing can resume.
Green did not provide a dollar amount for the budget shortfall. The update framed maintenance priorities and a near-term calendar for the bridge project; commissioners recorded the report but took no immediate action on highway funding at the meeting.
