City staff and the Human Services Advisory Committee presented recommendations July 28 to award $260,000 in Human Services Grant Fund dollars to 20 local organizations. The pool combines $185,000 from the city general fund and $75,000 from a HODAC loan repayment.
Ally Harmon read the recommended awards and amounts: Community Table Assistance Program $20,000; Seniors Resource Center $20,000; Mission Arvada $20,000; Project Angel Heart $20,000; Caring Clinic $16,000; A Precious Child $15,000; Community Table Emergency Food Fund $15,000; The Ralston House $15,000; Family Tree $15,000; Hope House $15,000; Jefferson Center for Mental Health $15,000; Beyond Home $12,000; The Action Center $12,000; Archway Communities $12,000; Jeffco Prosperity Partners $10,000; Spark Hope Automotive $10,000; Food Bank of the Rockies $8,000; Volunteers of America $5,000; CS CASA of Jefferson and Gilpin Counties $5,000 (totaling $260,000).
Staff said it will present a resolution for council approval at the Aug. 18 business meeting and then execute agreements with awardees. Council members supported the distribution approach but asked staff to review whether the fund's total should be increased in the budget process; staff noted the city is in active budget work and will consider that input.
