Skate‑park supporters press board for progress; staff says RFP will follow engineering and permitting

Several speakers urged the board to move the Skate Cambria skate‑park project forward and asked why the restroom and RFP remain incomplete. Chelsea Foster and other supporters described a successful community skate event and encouraged the district to expedite permitting and construction.
General Manager McElhaney said staff is waiting for updated engineering calculations and design changes from consultants, and that ERC needs to finish calculations before a county submittal can be made. "Once we receive those, we will have what we need to submit to the county," he said, and added that staff has drafted an RFP that will be issued once permitting and engineering are complete. Vice President Dean and staff estimated the earliest time the board would see RFP results would be late March or the first regular meeting in April, depending on receipt of required documents.
Board and staff said they will issue a GM letter and post RFP notices when the process is ready to solicit bidders; until that time, staff will not place construction contract approvals on the board agenda. Public speakers including Kelly Johnson and Christina Galloway urged the board to continue outreach and move the project forward.
