Board of Education outlines FY25/26 capital requests as material costs rise after delayed budget

Altimus said the AHS Partial Roof Replacement (Phase II) was delayed by the FY24/25 budget timetable and that the FY25/26 request includes $180,000 to cover price increases; he noted the total project costs originally estimated at $760,000. He identified other requests such as the TBS Courts Replacement (Phase I $110,000 corrected figure) and stepped funding for AMS electrical and door entrance system upgrades.
School staff also raised facilities and safety priorities. Dr. Carnemolla said the AMS Notification System Replacement is a growing priority because replacement parts are no longer available and false alarms have increased; Russo outlined the Board’s multi-year outlook and the financial constraints created by delayed appropriations. On the AHS running track issue, Altimus said the installer has described a persistent design interface where the track meets the carpet; Council members asked for a second opinion, and staff agreed to seek one before committing to a full resurfacing. Council thanked school staff for the presentation; no formal appropriation action was taken at this meeting.
