Fire Chief and Emergency Management Director Bruce Appell presented the Capitol Region Council of Governments’ updated Hazard Mitigation and Climate Adaptation Plan, explaining that it identifies hazards such as flooding, severe storms, extreme heat, drought and dam failures and recommends mitigation and adaptation strategies.
The Council adopted a resolution that makes the plan an official plan of the Town of Avon, directs designated officials to pursue the actions assigned in the plan, and requires annual reporting on implementation progress. Chief Appell noted adoption preserves eligibility for FEMA mitigation funding and reflects public input gathered during the plan update.
