Avon council recommends ARPA and CIP transfers to replace Senior Center HVAC; installation planned for Jan. 2025

At the Oct. 22 special meeting, the Town Manager described a plan to replace the Senior Center HVAC system and effect community room improvements, noting the solicitation produced an alternative Variable Refrigerant Flow (VRF) system proposal. Staff estimated the HVAC and Community Room work at approximately $380,000 including equipment, ceiling work and lighting, and said available rebates are expected to offset some costs.
On a motion by Councilor Weber, seconded by Councilor Ausiello, the council voted (Ausiello, Barthel, Bratton, Polhamus, Weber) to favorably recommend that the Board of Finance approve transfers of $25,158.44 from Town CIP accounts and $41,280 from ARPA-designated accounts to support the project. The council also voted to recommend a supplemental ARPA appropriation of $126,359 for the Senior Center HVAC account. The Assistant Town Manager said staff expects to issue a purchase order and contract by the end of the month, with installation beginning in January 2025 and lasting about eight weeks.
