Avon Council sets Oct. 10 public hearing on ordinance letting Inland Wetlands require independent consultant fees

Michael Feldman, chair of the Inland Wetlands Commission, told the Council the proposed ordinance addition would allow the Commission to retain an independent consultant and have applicants pay the associated consultant fee for large or complicated submissions beyond the Commission’s or staff’s expertise. The Town Attorney reviewed the draft and the Commission will hold its own public hearing on the related regulation after the Council’s ordinance step.
Mr. Feldman said staff and the Commission will need to refine implementation practices and noted possible practical challenges under the word "substantial" in the draft regulations. Council voted to set a Town Council public hearing for Oct. 10, 2024 on the ordinance addition so the Commission and the public can review and comment before the Commission considers the regulation.
