James Charlesworth of Charlesworth Consulting told the Finance, Administration and Economic Development Committee that the city's property and liability insurance renews April 1 and that brokers negotiated better terms with current insurers. "We increased our property coverage, so it's better than it was before," Charlesworth said, adding the city also "enhanced our cyber protection program" and realized an annualized premium decrease on the expiring program.
Charlesworth flagged a typographical error in the meeting packet for one insurer's premium (it should read $5.95, not $5.75) but said the committee's overall recommendation figure of $1,804,004 is accurate. After brief questions, a committee member moved to recommend City Council approve the 2026–27 property and liability insurance program as presented; the motion passed on a recorded voice vote and the committee forwarded the recommendation to Council.
